Bullying Lessons: Seek First To Understand, Then To Be Understood--EMPATHY

In September we are reviewing bullying and talking about how using Habit 5 can help us have empathy and stop bullying when we see it. I have been in 3rd and 4th grade doing similar lessons with the word "Empathy." Students are learning what empathy means in much detail and reading a book that helps them identify when empathy was used to stop bullying, or, conversely, when empathy could have been used to stop bullying (a missed opportunity).

3rd Graders are my Leadership Spotlight this month:

4th graders received a similar lesson but read the story Those Shoes by Meribeth Boelts.

I will be updating the blog as I visit more classrooms! Please visit the "Guidance Schedule" page above to see when I will be visiting your child's classroom!!

Welcome Back

Welcome back to another great school year! I am looking forward to seeing all of our leaders tonight at Meet Your Teacher! I wanted to take a moment to remind parents to read my introductory letter regarding important information about Highland Park Guidance and Counseling. It can be found at the right side of this blog under Parenting Forms, labeled "2014 Letter To Parents." I hope to see each of you tonight!!
